Causes and Treatments of Acne on Arms
The main cause of acne on the arm is due to hormonal changes. It can also be because of the food you eat. Whatever the cause, there are several natural treatments available to help get rid of acne on the arm.
Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, which causes oil buildup and the appearance of acne. You can make a natural exfoliant at home using natural ingredients that can help overcome acne on the arm:
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons of plain yoghurt
- Put all ingredients into a bowl
- Stir until forming a paste
- Apply with a gentle massage on the acne area
- Leave on for 10 minutes
- Rinse with cold water and apply oil-free moisturizer
Scrub from a mixture of oats, salt and honey can help soften and moisturize the skin and overcome acne on arms.
- 3 tablespoons of oats
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 2 tablespoons of salt
- Mix all ingredients and add a little water to form a paste
- Apply gently in a circular motion and let stand for 15 minutes
- For best results, repeat this treatment at least three times a week.
Additional methods will help to reduce acne on arms size and longevity, even though maybe not necessarily prevent the acne from occurring or totally cure it. It is recommended to wash your arms twice a day using warm water and a mild soap. Just avoid scrubbing the arms too hard as this might made the arms skin irritated and worsen the skin condition.
Over-the-counter medications may also help, get those which contains benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide contains antibacterial material that will remove dead skin cells in such a way making a less chance of them causing a blockage on the skin pores. But pay attention that this ingredient can make your skin become extra dry, so use it a little bit at a time on your skin until you are sure that it will not affect your skin in a bad way.
It is also advised that you do not squeeze your acne on arms because this may create a permanent scar on the skin’s surface.
